Legacy Bot Controller brings your Sphero BB-8 and BB-9E back to life on iOS and Android. Roll them anywhere, change their colors, pull tricks, map routes, let them follow you, and drive them with your voice.
What happened to the BB-8 app?
BB-8 and BB-9E were built to be driven from a phone, first through the BB-8 app and later through the Star Wars Droids App by Sphero. After Sphero stopped selling its Star Wars droids, those apps were removed from the App Store and Google Play. Without an app, a BB-8 is just a very nice shelf ornament.
Legacy Bot Controller is an independent app built to fix that. It connects to your BB-8 or BB-9E over Bluetooth Low Energy and gives you a real controller again.

BB-8 app questions
Is there still an app for the Sphero BB-8?
The original BB-8 app from Sphero is no longer in the App Store or Google Play. Legacy Bot Controller is an independent app that controls BB-8 and BB-9E on current iOS and Android devices.
Does it work with BB-9E?
Yes. BB-9E shares BB-8's controls and tricks, and adds head LED control and its own library of about 47 onboard animations in the Animation Lab.
Can I use Sphero Edu instead?
Sphero Edu is a coding app for classrooms. Legacy Bot Controller is made for play, with joystick and tilt driving, LED colors, tricks, route mapping, follow mode and AI voice control.
